3rd Poverty and Social Protection Conference (PSPC2009)

11th-13th of March 2009, Bangkok, Thailand
Venue: Royal Benja Hotel

The 3rd Poverty and Social Protection Conference (PSPC2009), held from 11-13 March 2009 in Bangkok, Thailand at the Royal Benja Hotel, built on the momentum of the earlier editions and continued advancing the global dialogue on poverty, inequality and social protection.

This edition brought together an expanded group of researchers, practitioners, policymakers and NGO representatives committed to strengthening social protection mechanisms and exploring inclusive development pathways. As the third instalment of the PSPC series, PSPC2009 further established the conference as a key venue for interdisciplinary exchange and global networking in the social protection field.

Key themes included:

  • Deepening social protection systems in emerging economies
  • Bridging evidence, policy and practice for poverty alleviation
  • Elevating the voices of marginalised communities in policy dialogues
  • Strengthening cross-sector networks across academia, civil society and public policy

PSPC2009 reinforced the approach of providing a high-quality, boutique conference format with global reach that remains central to the series today.
